Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Trevor! I'm a 6-year old miniature-sized American Eskimo male who weighs about 20 pounds. When my foster mommy got me, I was very dirty and matted. She did a wonderful job of cleaning me up, as you can see from my pictures. Don't you think I'm just as cute as can be? I'm recently neutered and current on all my vaccinations. I came into rescue diagnosed heartworm positive, but I've been treated for that, so now all those nasty critters are gone and I'm completely well. But I need to stay on monthly heartworm medication so I don't get infected again. I'm also housebroken and leash-trained, although the "heal" thing confuses me. But even though I've never been to school, I'm a smart guy, and I bet I'll get it figured out soon! :o) I get along great with other dogs, and with children also, but you better be prepared to share your affection with me, or I'll find a way to nuzzle my way in to get my share! I love to cuddle and give Eskie kisses, and I never get tired of being petted and brushed. I'm very quiet for an Eskie--I'll let you know when someone is coming to your door, or if I need to go outside--but overall, I'm really a "cool" laid back dog! Because of my heartworm treatment, I've had to take it easy for a while now, but now that I'm better, my energy level is revving up, and I can't wait to play. My foster mommy says she has never seen a dog wag his tail as much as I do! I'm a very friendly, super-sweet guy looking for a forever family to take me home and shower me with all the love and affection in the world--and you better believe I will give it all back, in spades! Won't you please adopt me and let me show you what a sweet, happy boy I really am? I promise you'll never regret it! If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Liz at: liz@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: karon@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me. There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Shreveport, LA with my foster mommy, Karon. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! Trevor
