Like that famous actor Robert Duvall. But my foster dad just calls me Duby. He says that I'm unique because I've got character. I'm a really expressive kind of guy. But you gotta treat me right cause I need to belong to someone I can respect. If that's you, read on The first time we meet I'll probably growl and bark at you. I'm just trying to protect my territory. Don't take it personally ... I usually bark and growl at any stranger. I'll let you pet me, but just a little at first. I only let good friends get in really close to me. And if you're really special, I might let you kiss me on my head. Until then, I'll express myself by letting you know that I don't like something by growling. If you respect me, we'll get along just fine and before long, you'll be my special pal.! I'm not your typical eskie that just lays around. I'm always following my foster dad to see what he's doing around the place. He's my special pal for now and I show it by wagging my tail whenever I see him. Every now and then when I stare at him with my pretty puppy dog eyes (I told you that I was named after an actor!), he will stop and pet me. Oh I love to jump into his lap and snuggle with him when he goes to bed. And I let him know by softly groaning when he holds me. Ooooh, I love it! I don't like to be pushed around physically, and sometimes I can be a bit domineering myself. But I love to obey commands. If you teach me what you want, you won't have to push me out of the way. Just give me the word and I'll obey. My foster dad can say "Off" and I'll get off the couch right away. And I love to jump up and give eskie hugs, but I wait until my dad tells me that I am allowed. It took my foster dad a little while to figure out the difference between my growl saying that I don't like something, and my groan saying that I love it! I kind of had him confused for a bit. But I can't help it. After all I'm a dog, and I have a limited voice. But now that we've come to an understanding ... we're great pals. It just took a little patience, discipline and understanding. < I would do best in a home that has children that are older, say 12 yrs and up. I get along with most other dogs and I don't mind cats. I like to run outside, but I'm also ok without a lot of activity. If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Jim at: jpark@canarylabs.com click here to fill out an adoption application for me. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in PA with my foster daddy, Jim. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). There is a $150 adoption fee for me, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! and#9829;Duvalland#9829;
