Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Mozart! I'm a 10-year old standard-sized American Eskimo male who is extra special, because I might have a dash of another breed in me. I weigh about 34 lbs, but it's all muscle, not fat. (I have to keep my shape so the girls will look at me!) I'm a cute and unique-looking Eskie, kind of light rust in color, not all white like most, so that makes me stand out in the crowd!
I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. Because I was always an outside dog, I'm still learning this housebreaking thing--I have gotten really good with the doggie door! :o) I will go out when I have access to the door, and if it's closed off (like when it's too cold), I will go on the newspapers my foster mommy lays out for me. She says that is really good of me, because I just used to go whenever and wherever I got the urge. Hey, nobody told me I couldn't go where I wanted to--I was outside all the time! So this is all new to me, but I catch on so quickly! I do fine with other dogs, and even the cats here don't bother me. I'm a lover not a fighter, and I love everyone because I have never really had anyone to love me before. Yep, it's hard to believe that I'm 10 years old and am still waiting for someone to love me like I should be loved! I was always an outside dog and was never in a house until I came here to my foster home, where I'm getting all kinds of love and special attention. You know, I really like this inside stuff! Now instead of the cold hard ground I get to sleep on blankets, which are nice and soft. I even have one of my very own! Though I'm a big boy, I'm low energy. I will only bark to get your attention. I don't bark unless I see you and you don't pay attention to me. I just want to be sure you know I'm here, so you will pet me and lavish me with the attention I never received before. You don't think that's too selfish of me, do you? I am very healthy, and my hearing is very good, just like my vision--I can spot a treat a mile away! :o) Well, maybe not a mile, but close to it. Tee Hee! I'm a Senior Sweetheart and I would make a great companion for anyone, including an older person, and I'm eligible to be adopted for a lower fee through Eskie Rescuers United's "New Leash on Life" Senior program. (To find out more about this program, please go to: Senior Eskies and Senior Humans.) All I want is my very own forever family who will love and cherish me and give me a chance to love them back with all my heart. I think I've waited long enough, don't you? If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Gina at: Justus4250@aol.com. You can also click here to fill out an adoption application for me. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Silver Spring, MD with my foster mommy, Natasha. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! and#9829;Mozartand#9829;
