About Saxby

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 06-165
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Saxby! I'm a GORGEOUS 9-year old miniature-sized American Eskimo male who stands about 14 inches tall and weighs 30 pounds. (Yes, I know I'm overweight, but I was very well-loved by my former owner--who died, unfortunately--and I guess he couldn't say no to me at feeding time!) I have a full white teddy bear coat and I enjoy being groomed. (That way I can look even "purtier" for you!)

I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm housebroken and leash-trained--in fact VERY much so! My foster mommy says I'm a real joy to walk (and I love to go for car rides too). We don't know if I'm crate-trained, but I'm so well-behaved I don't even need to be crated.

Because I was fed only soft food all my life, I needed some dental work after I came into rescue. I had to have a few teeth pulled, and I got all the rest of them cleaned and polished, so now I'm ready to flash you my sweet Eskie smile with pride! I have no problem eating dry food, and I won't require a special diet--just more exercise!

I get along well with dogs of both sexes, with cats, with children and even with strangers. There's NO ONE I don't like! HeHe! I don't even need obedience training, because my previous owner took me to classes, so I know all the basic commands.

I'm not really the playful type, though once I lose some weight that might change. I'm much more of a calm, sedate guy, unless I spy a treat or the leash in your hand--then I really come to life! :o) I'm quite affectionate, and I just love to snuggle up with you. Wouldn't you like a handsome guy like me snuggling next to you?!

My foster mommy says I was obviously someone's well-loved companion and that I act the true gentleman in her home always. I'm just a big old butterball of love, according to her! Wouldn't you love to have me in your home and spoil me again, as I was before? I would love to make you happy and oh-so-proud of me. Won't you adopt me into your family and give me another chance at the great life I had before?

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Wanda at: wanda@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: peggy@eskierescuersunited.org. Better yet, you can go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me!

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Chambersburg, PA with my foster mommy, Peggy.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is a $150.00 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!
