My name is Nugget and I'm a gorgeous young Eskie boy who has some special medical needs. I was rescued from the "garage" at an Ohio shelter (that's what the volunteers there call the staging area for the gas chamber, which is the "point of no return")! My good looks and golden charm won over those wonderful volunteers and they hid me away in the cat room and kept me out of harm's way. But the clock was ticking and my time was finally up. Luckily for me, they got hold of Eskie Rescuers United and I found myself transported to Michigan. So now I'm settled in at my new foster home. My knees, however, are not doing so well, and I have difficulty keeping up with my foster brothers and sisters. I love to play and exercise, but my foster mommy tells me I have to take it easy and stay calm. Calm??? I'm still a young'un, and there's so much to do!!! The doc says I have a "luxating patella" (popped knee) in my right hind leg, compounded by torn ligaments. I will need an expensive orthopedic surgery before I'll be ready for adoption, which could perhaps be as long as 12-14 weeks. Though I look just fine, I guess I could use the operation. It's kind of difficult for me to go potty, because my hind leg can't support my weight very well. I'd also like to join the rest of the pack when they go for long hikes too, and I get very sad when I have to be left behind :o( Though it'll be a long time before I'll be available for adoption, I'll tell you about me anyway. That way, maybe once I am ready, I'll have a loving home waiting to adopt me! If you know about Eskies, you know we're "Velcro" dogs. Well, I'm more than Velcro--I'm more like "Crazy Glue...stuck on you!" :o) I love to 'merge' with my human on the couch, and I'll adjust to any position, just like a bean bag! I give kisses all the time and I'm very snuggly and cuddly. Although I get along with other dogs and cats, I really prefer to be an only dog. You see, it's really not fair to the others, because I'm so CUTE and ADORABLE and CUDDLY that I take all the attention away from them. I prefer to play just with you and not with other dogs, so please only "sign up" for me if you don't already have a pack at home. I can be a little pushy, so sometimes I do try to take control, though not in an aggressive way. When I'm all better, you can take me to obedience classes and show me that YOU are the pack leader, not I. I learn really fast and I'm always looking to you for approval, because all I want to do is please you. I do have another issue that my foster parents are working on with me. I have a fear of being abandoned, and I make quite a fuss when I'm left on my own. I don't do well in a crate, even when I have stuffed Kongs to try to distract me. We're working very hard to help me overcome my separation anxiety. I've toned down the howling and will settle down after a bit, but I would not be the right pet for people living in apartments, condos or other forms of attached housing. My medical bills will probably be as much as $1,000, which will put a real dent in the Eskie Emergency Medical Fund! Won't you please consider sponsoring me to help me get the surgery I need to live a truly golden life? There is a $150 adoption fee for me, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! Nugget

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
