PLEASE SEE NOTE BELOW FROM ERU'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ABOUT THIS FOSTER DOG! Hello, all! My name is Opie! I?m a 14-week old American Eskimo baby boy who needs to find my new forever home. I?m a very nice little boy who will probably be about 20 to 25 pounds when I get done growing! Right now I weigh 10 pounds and am getting bigger every day! I didn't have the best breeder, because I have a long body but short legs! I will probably look like a Weenie dog when I get older?at least that?s what my foster mommy tells me! I?m neutered, current on all my puppy vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I?m kennel trained and am just about 95% potty trained. YEAY! I am teething and yes, I?m still getting my baby ?teefies? in, so I like to chew on anything and everything! I do very well with what I?m supposed to chew on because there are so many yummy chewy treats all over my foster mommy's house! I get along great with all the other doggies here and would prefer to have another Eskie or other canine buddy in my new home to play with! I?m very good with kitty cats, and with kids too! If you have toddlers, I would be just fine with them, but please remember that I am basically a toddler myself and will chew, bite, play hard, and knock them down, because I like to play rough! (After all, that IS what we puppies do! LOL) There is one thing you need to know about me. When I got to my foster mommy's house I was a very sick little boy?but don't worry, I?m all better now! I had distemper and had to spend two whole weeks at the vet. Everyone there was SO in love with me (and they still are!). I was a perfect little boy and didn't give anyone any trouble at all!! The thing is, though, I could have some problems in the future?or I may not!! There?s a chance I could have neurological and seizure disorders on account of the distemper. The nice vet said I responded very well to treatment, but there is always that possibility. Of course, we?re hoping this won't happen, but we thought it would be best to be upfront about it from the beginning. I will need constant medical attention, which could get very costly with all those visits to the veterinarian. I only want a committed family who won?t have any qualms about adopting me with the knowledge of my potential medical issues, not someone who wants me just because I?m a baby and am so cute. It?s very important to me that you understand this and will be willing to love me and help me through these disorders if they should ever occur. I?m a very sweet and lovable boy! I love to cuddle and sleep on your pillow! I am definitely the baby in the house, even though I try to act like a big guy! And let me tell you, I sure do know my name?and I LOVE it! For more information on me, please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me. There is an adoption fee required to adopt me. Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its fosters as outdoor dogs. Sincerely, Opie! Now a note from my foster mommy! Eskie Rescuers United will only adopt Opie out to a family local to his foster home. He CANNOT be put onto a transport due to his age and size. If you are willing to drive to pick him up, that would be acceptable. Please submit an adoption application only if you are local to the Greenville, SC area or you will drive here to get him, as we will not consider any other applications. Sorry, but there can be NO exceptions to this policy. Serious inquiries only, PLEASE!!! We must ask for this consideration because of the overwhelming hours being spent on helping the Hurricane Katrina victims. Thank you for your understanding.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.
If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.
There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
