Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Hi, my name is Kaspen! I'm a 2-year old miniature-sized American Eskimo male who weighs 20 pounds and stands about knee-high (depending on whose knee I'm standing next to!). I'm a very handsome boy, if I do say so myself! I'm neutered, microchipped, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm housebroken yet, leash- and crate-trained, and I enjoy going for car rides, especially if we end up at the dog park! I get along great with everyone--dogs, cats, children, adults, even strangers. I'm a very playful guy, and I like to run and jump. For that reason, my new home will need to have a secure, fairly high fence so you don't lose me. (My foster mommy says I'm something of an escape artist, whatever that means.) I'm quite the affectionate boy, a real lover type (especially of potato chips! HeHe!). I know the "sit" command, and I will snuggle with you and sit in your lap as long as you pet me. I have to admit, though, that I'm not crazy about getting baths, so it's a good thing we Eskies only need to be bathed a few times a year. I also have to fess up that I can be a barker, but that's a common trait of the Eskie breed. You see, we're just trying to alert you of any dangerous intruders who might come to your front door! I'm a great little guy who is waiting as patiently as I know how for my very own forever family--will that be you? If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Allen at: allen@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: jane@eskierescuersunited.org. Better yet, you can go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me. There is an adoption fee required, and whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Jefferson City, TN with my foster mommy, Jane. To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF! Kaspen
