Please contact Gina (Justus4250@aol.com) for more information about this pet. UPDATED 12/28/06: Aladdin is ADOPTED!!! A wonderful couple has adopted this model prisoner!!! UPDATED 11/2/06: Aladdin has joined the Hounds of Prison Education program. Aladdin/Snowy will be living in a prison for the next 12 weeks. He will get intensive obedience training. He is still available for adoption, however he can't be 'sprung' till he has served his sentence. If you are interested in Aladdin/Snowy and want to watch his progress from little rebel to a gentleman, please check out his diary for weekly updates. Due to his intensive training his adoption fee is higher than our normal $150; he is available for $225. With the higher fee you will be getting a dog whose picture has been featured in a magazine, who is obedience trained, and has one month of free assistance if you encounter any problems when you take him home. Please follow Snowy's progress here: Snowy's Diary To learn more about the HOPE program please visit the web site: www.hopedogs.org Hi, my name is Aladdin! I'm a 2-year old miniature- or small standard-sized American Eskimo male who stands 16 to 17 inches tall and weighs about 20 pounds. My foster mommy rescued me from a Philadelphia animal shelter, where I was so scared and shaking that the shelter wouldn't even allow me to be shown to the general public. My foster mommy has given me so much love and affection that I'm now ready to try to trust people again--but only a very special person or family that will love and cherish me always. I'm neutered, current on all my vaccinations, heartworm negative, and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. I'm mostly housebroken but will occasionally mark my territory. (My foster mommy thinks that will stop once I'm in a home that doesn't have so many doggy smells). I do great on a leash and enjoy going for walks. I also ride well in the car, as long as you don't leave me alone inside--I don't like that at all, and will claw at the inside of the car until you come back. I'm not crazy about being crated, but I will tolerate it. I'm so well-behaved in the house, however, that I don't need to be crated. I'm not at all destructive, and I haven't gotten into any trouble. I'm very good with other dogs, and with cats also, though I really don't pay any attention to them. I'm very low-keyed and I don't really play. I'm very scared of new people and it takes me a while to warm up to them. I would do best in a calm home that doesn't have a lot of strangers coming and going, and where there aren't any active young children. I also prefer women much more than men, because I'm more likely to feel frightened and intimidated by men. I haven't bitten my foster mommy (or anyone else), but I did snap at her boyfriend. I'm what's called a fear biter, which means that when I'm afraid someone is going to be mean or abusive to me (which must have happened to me a lot in my previous life), I only try to protect myself from being hurt again. My foster mommy says I'm such a great lover. I need to see her all the time; whenever she leaves the room I have to follow her (I just want to be sure she's OK!). When she leaves the house, I sit right there waiting for her to return. I like to be up high, so sometimes I sleep on the back of the couch. My foster mommy says I'm part mountain goat, and though I'm not really sure what that is, I can easily clear a four foot fence without a problem. I'd be a great candidate for agility training. That kind of training and socialization might even help me get over my fear of new people. I am looking for a very special home, with someone who will help me learn not to be so scared of everyone and everything. I'm a very sweet and loving little guy who requires understanding and patience, but most of all lots of gentle loving. I tend to bond very strongly to one person in the home, and I like to sleep at the foot of your bed, so I can always be near you. I'm a very good dog, not at all wild, but with the proper training, I can become your perfect little man. Also I am pretty famous, I got my picture in the 'Rally to Rescue' Magazine along with some of my other foster brothers and sister. I am the one stilling on the tree stump beside my foster mom, being very good. I will not act all snooty just because I am famous; I will still be your faithful companion. :o) I just might expect an extra treat or so since my picture is all over the United States in that magazine. Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state. I'm in Carlisle, PA with my foster mommy, Gina. To get me to you, we can do what's called an 'Eskie Railroad,' which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). There is a $225 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs. Thank you and WOOF!
