Hi, FIONA here, saying "hello and look at me"!
 
I live in Pembroke Pines, Florida and I am looking for a wonderful new forever home.  My mommy had to leave my daddy and me forever, and while my daddy loves me very much and would like me stay with him, he has some health issues of his own, and doesn't feel he can give me the kind of care I need and deserve.
 
I thinks it's rude to ask a lady her age and weight, but I will share it with you just this one time!  I am 7 years old, 22 pounds, spayed, heart worm negative, and current on all my vetting and vaccines (my next annual wellness exam is due the end of April).  I am in excellent health.  As you can see from my pictures, I am a beautiful Eskie girl, and my mommy kept me well groomed and my fluffy fur clipped.  She thought I would be more comfortable with my fur clipped shorter in the hot, humid and sunny southern Florida weather.
 
I am a typical Eskie - playful, charming, loving and protective of my owner(s).  I am a little uncomfortable with new people at first, but warm up to them once I get to know them.  Initially, I will put on a fierce sounding barking show.....after all, I have to protect my home and owners!  But after I get to know you, I will want to be by your side constantly and in your lap giving you Eskie kisses.  Because I was a "mommy's favorite girl", I tend to initially prefer women and am a little wary around men.  I like kids, as long as they know how to behave around dogs and they respect them.
 
I LOVE to walk, and any move to the door or mention of the words ‘walk’ or 'outside’ gets me pretty excited!  I also have lots of toys and balls......and love to get people to play fetch with me.  I am in excellent health and have a good Eskie energy level, but thankfully, I am past the exhausting juvenile Eskie exuberance.
 
I sure hope you like me and will consider adopting and giving me a wonderful, loving new forever home.

As a breed, the American Eskimo is an affectionate, loving dog. Hardy, playful, charming and alert, the Eskie has a very high intelligence and a willingness to please.  American Eskimos like to work and enjoy mental and physical games and challenges.  They are naturally wary of strangers, but once introduced they become instant friends.  Eskimos need to be an integral part of the family with a firm, consistent, confident pack leader.  Without enough mental and physical exercise, they can become hyperactive, high strung, or destructive.  They do require regular brushing and grooming, they do shed, and typically "blow" their coats twice a year.
