Learn more about the American Eskimo Dog.
Joe came to us from South Carolina. We do not know his history but he is still fairly young and quite energetic. He's very affectionate with his people and loves attention. He plays a lot with the other dogs here and got along fine with cats at his previous location. He really wants to be with his people at all times and does not like being left alone. He's gotten much better about that while he's been here but he still will follow you around the house. He is very good at getting through doors you're trying to keep him from just because he wants to go with you.
We don't know what his fur should be like. He had his fur cut off before he got here because of a very bad flea problem. The fleas are long gone but the fur hasn't quite grown back so he's kind of fuzzy instead of furry. This does not seem to bother him. He is quite vocal, especially when he thinks he's getting a treat and when his people get home. When he's not playing or getting petted he's quite happy to just lay around and rest.
