Diamond is a gorgeous standard female who was surrendered to the shelter by her owner, who is on disability and unable to care for Diamond any longer. Diamond is a great Eskie! She is a very loving girl and is as soft and cuddly as she looks. She has been a joy to foster but she is anxious to get to the next chapter of her life with her forever person or family. She is a very active and a young 11 years. Diamond came to us heartworm positive and was treated with the gentle kill treatment method: http://www.eskierescuers.org/info/display?PageID=11624 Diamond really needs a strong alpha owner - she is headstrong and very smart, eager to learn and loves to be with her human, canine, feline pack. She likes cats BUT also likes that when she chases them, they run……so she HERDS them! She's getting better but a foster home that has 6 cats who all love dogs and will run for her, kind of makes it hard to train her, when the cats encourage her! Diamond is crate trained, loves her toys and to gather them, and she is very treat motivated. She knows "sit" and "stay". She is a little bit dominant, so she would do better in a home with an experienced owner who could provide consistent leadership and direction. She loves attention and to be petted and brushed, preferably while sitting on your lap. She would love a home where she was the star attraction and could be your constant companion. We can't say enough good things about her though. She is beautiful, loves baths, blew her coat and hardly sheds now. She sleeps at your feet on the bed and rarely moves until you get up. She loves to play bite! She's a little vocal at mealtimes but is learning manners. Diamond is deathly afraid of fireworks and whistles and she will run to the door, gate, etc. to get away. We did treat her with anxiety medicine over July 4 holiday, which helped greatly – and she may benefit from a Thundershirt.If you are interested in adopting Diamond, please complete an online adoption application at www.eskierescers.org.
