Coco
Coco Flockton 4/12/2001-1/29/2016 Coco came to ERU in spring 2009. He was a dog rescued from being chained out in a yard, and turned in to South Myrtle Beach Humane Society. He had heartworms and bad teeth. He was treated with the fast kill method,and given a dental with many extractions. ERU got him and he was staying with Kim Stewart,until she started her summer vacation. He was then transferred to me, Cathy Flockton, to become my latest foster. He did try to bite me, as a greeting, then warmed up to me a little more as the journey continued. He wouldn't tolerate much handling, and a pedicure was his worst nightmare. He met very few people, or dogs, that he liked. But, if he did like you, he might have allowed a little pat or two! It was very apparent he could not be adopted, so he became a sponsor only dog. After the passing of my own eskimo dog, Kodi, I made Coco my boy. He loved fish, especially salmon, and enjoyed smoked salmon on top of his chow as his days became numbered. He had neurological issues, and died following a seizure episode. He will always be cherished!

Cody
Cody was surrendered to ERU for medical issues, which his loving owner was unable to cover. Upon intake, he had a very thorough examination, bloodwork, x-rays and a partial ultrasound. While Cody seemed bright and energetic on the outside, inside he was in very poor health and failing quickly. His bladder and urethra were filled with stones and crystals and surgery was the only way his incontinence could be resolved. Unfortunately, his bloodwork indicated significant renal disease and the onset of anemia. It was determined by our vet that it was too late to attempt surgery and with his compromised kidneys, he likely would not survive it. Under doctor's advisement, much discussion and many tears, we concluded that it was time to let Cody go and not let him continue to suffer. Coleman
Coleman was one of the last remaining puppies from Sasha. One of the PA 13 pregnant dogs. He was the smallest one, yet he survived the longest. He lived to be about 3 weeks old. As a last desperate measure, we tried to bottle feed him. He survived 2 more days that way, but eventually succumbed. For the first 2 1/2 weeks he lived in a small area under a box in the ground. For his last few days he got out into the world. He even went camping (hence his name Coleman named after a camping stove) and got a chance to go into Walmart. He was in a handbag but he wanted to see what was going on and he poked his head out. His eyes had just opened recently. Even though he lived only for 3 weeks and we only knew him personally for a few days we were quite saddened by his passing away.

Cooper
I got my sweet Cooper boy from you guys almost 3 years ago. He was attacked by another dog yesterday at the elementary school and ultimately had to be put to sleep. He was my angel and he helped pull me out of the depression I was struggling with. He was so beautiful, he smelt of sunshine and he never quit smiling. Thank you for allowing me to share his short life with him......Jamie Tafoya, May 5, 2016

Cynda
A sad morning today. Last night our little foster girl, CYNDA of FL, lost the battle raging against her tiny body. Cynda was pulled from a local shelter as “rescue only”. She was found as a stray.....blind, filled with mammary tumors, and just in case that wasn’t enough, heartworm positive to top it off. Who does this to their dog and then dumps them on the street to die? She has had 8 amazing months in her foster home, filled with love and the very best and most caring attention. Tango (on the right) is watching over his best girlfriend. And the truly wonderful news in this sad update is that precious Cynda-rella Barker was ADOPTED over the weekend and found her forever home. Her forever mommy and daddy held her tightly in their arms during her last days and minutes. RIP sweet Cynda, run free and wild again.
