It is with a heavy heart that I have to say D-O-G crossed the rainbow bridge today. He was a loveable, beautiful boy, that I was proud to give him almost a 1 1/2 years of love, and care. They help me as much as I help them, I call them my therapy dogs. I was with him until the end as there was no other place I would have wanted to be. He went peacefully, and is now pain free, and I like to imagine he is running, and playing with the others that crossed before him.......Riana Collins, May 25, 2016 It is with a very sad heart that Daisy left us today for the Rainbow Bridge. Our sweet peanut was just too sick to recover from spending one week in a high kill, overcrowded CA shelter. We suspect she came into the shelter sick, but she developed kennel cough and her health quickly deteriorated. A shelter is a difficult place for a healthy dog, it is a devastating place for one that is sick. The shelter put out an urgent rescue pull request. The picture of Daisy here is at the beginning of her stay. When we pulled her from the shelter she was practically comatose, couldn't hold her head up, was barely breathing and the transporter was concerned she wouldn't even be able to make it the 40 minutes to the vet. She was rushed to the ER instead for diagnostic tests, much needed fluids, antibiotics, and quiet rest. However, after 24 hours, the was no improvement and she was in fact worse. Daisy was in severe abdominal pain, possible left side pneumonia, nodules on her mammaries, a foul smell from nose and mouth, updated bloodwork was off the charts and her kidneys were in failure. The only kind decision was to end her suffering and say goodbye. Run free and wild, sweet girl. You were only with us 24 hours, but you were loved by many.........Eskie Rescuers, June 11, 2017. Dan D was rescued from the injection of death by merely minutes. When he came into rescue, he was covered in his own urine and feces, was not very socialized and was high heartworm positive. Dan D was a fighter and made it through treatment; but while awaiting for a new forever home, it was found that he had throat tumors. His little body was riddled with cancer. Dan D was pampered with warm blankets, chicken hot dogs (his favorite) and most of all...lots of love. Dan D and Little Bear inspired their generous foster mom, Jane to make a special memory quilt for Eskies. It was the highlight of ERU's 2006 summer fundraiser and helped to pay for the vet care of many of our special needs Eskies. Dan D's brave heart will always be remembered. It was a very bad week. I lost a very good friend. My heart is broken, but I had to end Delilah’s suffering. She was a very good girl, (except for the rocky start when she tried to kill poor Westie Cody - twice). She was the only dog without any bad habits. Never had an accident in the house and never destroyed anything. Thank you for having the pleasure of having her for the time we had........Brigitte Bryan, April 6, 2021 The most awful day, again. Our dear sweet wonderful boneheaded Diamond Barker died this morning. She was 15. Doc said it was vestibular brain lesions. Our hearts are shattered. Big D came to us as a ERU foster about 3 years ago. She came with heartworms and a spay that had just been done and by the time we got her it was infected. She came with everything BUT manners! Omg she was a handful! Had a bark that would rattle the windows and never EVER came when she was called!!! Breakfast and dinner was game time, trying to get her in and somewhat quiet was a lost cause until recently. Age and declining health do that. But she was loyal to a fault and no one was ever going to get in her home and past her! She was everyone’s mama dog. If anyone was sick, Diamond was right there to mother them back to health. Only once did she have a cross word and it was for the Communist who, to this day, would bite Diamonds back legs as she walked by! Linda and Diamond both still bore the scars of that episode. Diamond started as a foster but no applications came in for a beautiful, sweet, loving, loyal, heartworm+, headstrong, senior girl with a lot of love to give and we adopted her. Her and I fell in love with each other ♥️ We are forever grateful that we did! Thank you ERU for rescuing this beautiful senior girl! I can’t believe it was over so soon........Denise and Marker Barker, December 30, 2019 Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
