Nick of FL was an owner surrender at 14 years of age, when his mommy had to leave her home for assisted living with another family member. Sadly, the welcome mat was not extended to him, too. He was adopted by a man looking for a companion and best friend, and though they only had a year together, it was one of love and great care. Nick died peacefully at home from pneumonia, sleeping outside on the patio, looking out at the yard and trees.....his favorite place. You will be missed, our boy..........David King, November 5, 2017 Little Nick was pulled to safety from a kill shelter in the "nick" of time. He enjoyed love and comfort in his foster home for the last year of his life, but he earned his angel wings and flew away from us today. Run free and wild at the bridge, sweet boy.......Beth Voss, January 11, 2018 Yesterday morning, Nika crossed over the rainbow bridge. The poor dear soul was hurting and having a hard time walking. Nika came to me a year and a half ago through ERU. I saw her sad and confused face in a post from the Humane Society in Cocoa Beach where her family took her to be euthanized after her owner died. She was mostly deaf, had a bad heart and old injuries that weren’t treated and left her with a severe limp... I felt she deserved better than to die alone in a shelter. She was sweet and easy going and spent most of her time in the laundry room that she claimed as her den. RIP sweet Nika. Run free and wild.......Jane Roberts, May 5, 2017 In late October I lost my Noah due to kidney failure. He was 14 1/2. Noah became my permanent foster when ERU couldn’t adopt him out due to other health issues. I only had him for a little over 2 years but the heartbreak is all the same. I loved my boy very much and I know he is at peace. I miss you, my Noah…….Donna Drelich, October 2021 We lost another one of our beautiful senior foster babies. Little Norik out here in So CA lost his battle with life. Little Norik, who was about 13 yrs old was rescued this past summer from one of the Los Angeles City shelters. The poor boy was in horrible condition with all kinds of ailments including a horrific skin condition. The foster we had lined up for him fell through at the last minute & a beautiful soul named Carolyn Doran stepped in to care for him. Carolyn devoted herself to his care during the few months she had him. He was much loved, cared for, given the best vet care possible & pampered as he deserved to be. We all struggled so hard to save him & will miss him terribly. Thank you Carolyn for taking Norik into your home & heart. He will always be with us.
