Snowball
Today we said goodbye to our Snowball. He was our first rescue dog from Eskie Rescuers United and our gateway into fostering. He taught us a lot about fear aggression and what Joe and I were capable of handling. It was a long road paved with more than a few scars but unlike his previous owners, we never gave up on him. He eventually settled down and became the sweet guy we always knew he could be. He was with us for 11 years before kidney disease finally took him from us at the age of 17. I'm exhausted and don't have it in me to write more but something tells me that Joe Petrochko will have the extended version........Cheryl Petrochko, April 25, 2018

Snowball of MN
Snowball was rescued from a backyard in Austin, TX after spending 9 months there abandoned by her owner. A neighbor fed her and eventually contacted ERU who had an angel swoop down from MN and whisk me away. She was HW positive and her teeth were in deteriorating health but otherwise she was very healthy and didn’t complain. She spent her last years in the cold tundra of Duluth, but the warmth of her foster Mom, Karen, and all the other wonderful people who looked after her made up for the cold. She was truly loved by those who were fortunate to have her in their lives these past 2 years. If you are able to make a donation in her memory so we can continue to help eskies abandoned in the sunset of their lives, do so by following the link on our home page.

Snowy
It is with great sadness that we had to say good bye to our ERU foster failure, Snowy. When he first came to us, he was known as Noah. At ERU's request, we pulled Snowy from the Hillsborough Pet Resources Center in late December 2017. He was an owner surrender and completely shut-down in the shelter. He was supposed to with us for only one night. After three adoption failures and another foster failure, we decided to adopt him in mid-2019. Although cute as a button, he had a bad habit of biting especially when fussing with his neck. He had never been taught by his owner or mom how to growl or even put his ears back to express his displeasure. Overall, he wasn't a bad boy and could be affectionate. As he grew older, he lost most of his sight and hearing. Additionally, he had suffered from a non-cancerous tumor on his colon which resulted in a complete bowel resection in early 2020. His recovery was very slow. The bowel obstruction also started to return and doggie dementia was making its ugly appearance. Even with those personality traits, we loved him. His dad, Tom, pampered him, walked him every 2 or 3 hours, cleaned up after him (oh, how many piddle pads) and was his best buddy. He dispensed treats freely while I was the lunch and dinner fixer, chief groomer. But finally, as he neared his 16th birthday, it was clear he was tired. So with tears streaming down our cheeks and the help of Lap of Love, he went over the bridge sleeping on his favorite blue bathrobe. We are comforting ourselves with the thought that we gave Snowy his life for four more years because he was due to be euthanized for bad behavior in the shelter. And they were great years filled with love, treats and an occasional bite out of us.……Mary Mahoney and Tom McGuigan, November 2, 2021

Snowy
Your rescue name was Snowflake, but you were my Snowy.. white and fluffy like new fallen snow. You see a mile away and warn me of stranger danger car coming down our road. When you slept or napped.. I'd let you as a brand new baby being adored by her mother, but didnt like being disturbed, so you gave me a warning to stop my admiration of your beauty. You had more toys then a house full of children did and believed every crinkle of a bag included a new toy for you... and most always did. Your favorite food was Rotisserie chicken, rice and spagetti.. which was fixed just how you liked it.. so your nickname on Sundays was.. Spagetti Face... You always wanted to be where I was watching and absorbing my movements and tasks as you were sure they always were about you...your special meals, your nightly routine at bedtime.. with all your babies lined up like soldiers for inspection with lullaby ellie to put stars, music to your bedtime..and last but not least your bowl of cool milk to help you rest. Your kisses and brown marble eyes were magical to me, knowing your days were be counted and slipping away... our time together as family with your foster brothers and sisters treated you as one of the gang, as they knew what was coming as they surrounded you and never hurt you.. even Jet let you be boss sometimes. They were envious as we walked out the together one last time with your purple dragon in tow. . I talked you listened as we drove and reminded him of our beautiful time together and the sun shines on your face for the last time on this earth. Now your final kisses, hugs and leg rubs are with you to carry you to the only other hands I can entrust you with...Now the sun will always shine on you and the wind will catch your fluffy fur..till we meet again.. my angel. I love you my precious Snow..someone told me "" Every girl should have a white fluffy dog"... my how she was right... Thank you Laura Andriola, Cheryl, and Eskie United for saving him from MAS.. IT WAS MY HONOR TO BE HIS MOMMA. Thank you Gloria and Lou for his beautiful blanket that he was able to use a few days... after he sniffed it and decided he liked it. And to everyone who supports rescue efforts of any kind... You may not save the world.. but to that one dog.. it is his world. Love always.....Deborah Wolstenholme, February 26, 2019

Sonni
Sonni came into rescue with a female eskie named Jenni. Two peas in a pod. At one point, Sonni saved his foster mommy when she suffered an episode of heat stroke while in the backyard. Sonni barked and barked and barked until someone came to their aid. Once his foster mommy came back from the hospital, he never left her side. Shortly after Jenni found her forever home, Sonni suffered a sudden and extreme series of seizures. Sadly, he never recovered and crossed to the Bridge while in the arms of his foster mom. She saved him, then he saved her. Sonni found his forever home with his foster mommy and she'll never forget him. Sonni passed away on September 12, 2006. Wait for us at the Bridge, Sweet Sonni.
