Hi, I'm Sassafras, but you can call me Sassy! I'm a lovely and energetic ten-year young sweetheart, and I've been loved a LOT! As you can tell by my weight, I've been loved (with food and treats) a little too much, but I prefer to be called "poofy" not "chunky," if you please! :o) UPDATE: I've lost some weight! I'm now down from 40 to 33 lbs. I was cared for all my life by an older couple, so I'm very social, pretty and sweet. Unfortunately one of my humans passed away and the other is in an assisted living facility, so I need a new forever home. I'm spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm and flea-tick prevention. I'm also micro-chipped! I'm good in the car and I walk well on a leash. I didn't do so well with the cats at a new potential forever home when I was taken there for a week-long trial, and I wan't very nice to some dogs I met at PetsMart, so it might be better if I were an only pet, like I used to be with my original family. I'm not used to young children, but I'm fine with older, gentle kids. I need a fenced yard and I like to spend a lot of time outside. I like to have a 'doggie door' to the outside so I can come in and out when I need to. If you could take me for daily walks and exercise too, that will help me trim my "voluptuous" figure (tee hee). Because of my age I think I would be best placed in a home with adults only or older, gentle children. Is that you? I would make a great companion for an senior person and am eligible to be adopted for a lower fee through Eskie Rescuers United’s “New Leash on Life” Senior program. To learn more, please visit our website: Senior Program. If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact my foster parents at: Sandra and Earl. You can also visit our website and sign-up to fill out an adoption application and learn more about our adoption process. Thank you and WOOF! SASSAFRAS!
