About Gracie!

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Rescue ID: 05-087
  • Housetrained: Yes
Hi, my name is Gracie! I'm a 13-year old small standard-sized American Eskimo female who weighs 18 pounds. I was left at the doorstep at my foster mommy's house. (Someone must know what a wonderful person she is and how well she takes care of us rescue dogs!) When my foster mommy called the phone number on my dog tag, she learned that my previous owner had died, and I guess no one else wanted to keep me. I ask you, is that fair, to be abandoned like that after having devoted my entire life to my human companion?

I'm spayed, current on all my vaccinations and heartworm negative. I don't have to be on heartworm, flea or tick prevention, because here in Colorado we're lucky and don't have to worry about those nasty things that can cause problems elsewhere. I'm housebroken and leash-trained and I ride well in the car. I'm a very well-behaved little lady who won't cause you any trouble, as I tend to sleep a lot. I have my own bed that I like to sleep in, so I don't need to be confined to a crate. In the evenings when it's cool, I'm up and about and more active. Who can blame me for wanting to sleep when it's so hot? My eyesight and hearing aren't what they used to be, but I'm still quite frisky. I can hear the other dogs here barking and the front door opening, and though I may move a little slowly at times, I can play for 30 minutes or more when I want to.

I get along well with other dogs and enjoy playing sometimes with Sullivan, my 1-year old Eskie foster brother. We don't know about cats, because my foster mommy doesn't have any, but I'm pretty mellow, so they probably wouldn't be a problem for me. I'm sweet and friendly and get along with everyone, but it might be better if my new home didn't have small boisterous children who might not understand how to treat an older gal like myself. I would make a great companion for an older person, and I'm eligible to be adopted for a lower fee through Eskie Rescuers United's "New Leash on Life" Senior program. (To find out more about this program, please go to: Senior Eskies and Senior Humans.)

I like to sit on the couch and observe everything and everyone around me. I'm affectionate, though not overly so, and I don't need constant attention. I like being petted and especially enjoy snuggling with you in the evenings while we watch TV. My foster mommy says I'm a real joy to be around. Don't I sound like the perfect dog for you?

If you're interested in me, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad" if I'm not local to you. This is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain distance to get me to you! I'm in Colorado Springs, CO with my foster mommy, Cara.

For more information on me, please contact Leah at: leah@eskierescuersunited.org or feel free to e-mail my foster mommy directly at: cara@eskierescuersunited.org.

You can also go to our web site at: www.eskierescuersunited.org and fill out an adoption application for me! There is an adoption fee required to adopt me. Also, please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out our fosters as outdoor dogs.

Thank you and WOOF!

More about Gracie!

Is Not Good with Kids

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you will have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you). Note: We may ask that you to make a donation to cover transport costs if the distance is great and we have trouble finding transport drivers.

There is an adoption fee required; and, please be aware, Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.
