WHERE I'M BEING FOSTERED: Jacksonville, FL

Woof !!! My name is Dreamer! I was rescued in the nick of time from Miami and now I am in Jacksonville, Florida with my new foster mommy Ginny. She named me Dreamer because I am such a dreamy looking guy -- I also have been dreaming of my forever home!

I must have been someone's special pet -- I know "sit" and I "give paw" (especially for treats). I also walk really well on leash and I don't chew anything in the house. I am housetrained, but I might want to make my "mark" on new surroundings, but I will try so hard to be a good boy.

My favorite thing is a soft comfy dog bed. I'm so happy to be safe now - I went through a really rough time. When I was rescued from the shelter I was filthy dirty and matted so terribly; you can't tell in my pictures but I am missing lots of my beautiful fur. My rescuer had to trim me up so I would look pretty; my belly was one huge matt, but now my belly is shaved and boy do I feel good.

I love to roll around in the soft grass. I love walks and yard time, especially if you have other playful dogs, I am your man. I love to play. I am not sure how I would be around cats, but I am so mellow my foster mommy thinks they would be fine with me. I do need some dinner time manners when my humans are eating, it is important for you not to allow me to beg, because I might try to sneak your food away when you turn your head. When I was first rescued I was very underweight, so maybe in my former life, food was not always there. I am not food aggressive, but I don't like to share my rawhide -- but if you don't give those to me, we will never have any issues.

So far I have not played with toys, but that might change when I am relaxed in my new home. I would most likely do better in an adult home, but if you have well behaved older kids (ages 12 and up) that might be ok, for me.

The original pound paperwork said I was 7 years old, then it was changed to 10 years old, but my foster mommy compares me to another 7 year old she knows and I act so young, just like that dog. Also my eyes are clear and no signs of graying in my beautiful brown eyes. So she thinks I am 7... and I think so too.. tee hee.

Well I hope you will be my new forever family, don't waste anymore time, fill out an application on me right away. I'm dreaming of you...

I would make a great companion for an older person and am eligible to be adopted for a lower fee through Eskie Rescuers United's "New Leash on Life" Senior program. (To learn more about this program, please go to: Senior Eskies and Senior Humans.)

If you're interested in me and would like more information, please contact Kim and Jeff at: kim@eskierescuersunited.org. You can also click here to fill out an adoption application for me.

Whenever possible Eskie Rescuers United tries to adopt out its dogs locally (or at least to adopters in adjoining states to where I'm being fostered). Please note that ERU processes LOCAL adoption applications before considering those from out of state.

To get me to you, we can do what's called an "Eskie Railroad," which is a group of volunteer drivers who will each drive a certain portion of the transport. (We always ask that you, as the adopter, help out by taking the final leg.) If I'm not local to you, as explained above, and you really have your heart set on me, you may have to make special arrangements so ERU can get me to you safely (for example, flying me to you at your own expense, or paying a transport group to drive me to you).

There is a $150 adoption fee required, and please be aware that Eskie Rescuers United will not adopt out its dogs as outdoor dogs.

Lots of Eskie hugs and kisses!
