Last night we said goodbye to our ERU boy, Nakkeys. He was listed under the name Buck through ERU when he was up for adoption. We adopted him in February, 2007. He was about 15 years old now and his body just could not keep going because of terrible arthritis. We enjoyed 10 years of happiness with Nakkeys and loved him more and more as time went on. He was sweet, smart, intelligent, happy and loved beyond words. Many thanks to Jennifer Signorelli Jones for fostering him for ERU and letting us adopt him. Our house just isn't the same without him here. He was one in a million......Grace Kelly Herbert, June 12, 2017 It's with deep, deep sadness that we report the passing of Neko. He was hit by a car and killed. We are in the process of retrieving him, and of course, like any ERU dog, though we really didn't get a chance to know him, will be handled with love, respect and dignity. He will be cremated and remain with our rescue, always loved and never forgotten... Godspeed, little one.......September 9, 2018 I have volunteered on and off in eskie rescue for many years. A couple of weeks ago I began trying to help find a lost eskie, named Neko. Neko was an eskie that hadn't been fully socialized and was quite the escape artist. Being about 2 years old, he was a very handsome and energetic boy. Although we had many sightings of him and could only get about within 50 feet of him, he wouldn't allow himself to be vulnerable enough to be caught. We tried, boy did we try. He finally began warming up to a neighbor and we had hope that he'd soon be safe. That was never meant to be. Neko was soon after hit by a car and didn't make it. He's now being cremated. This broke all our hearts. Many people tried to help him. I write this because every dog and person deserves to be remembered properly, no matter how briefly they may have been known. Although we didn't know Neko well, we knew that he was an eskie that needed rescue. At about 20 lbs, he was a small guy. He was also very smart and quick. He just didn't realize that we were there to help him. Neko, I will always remember you, in my heart and mind. You touched me very deeply and I'm so sorry that we couldn't reach you in time. You were a beautiful boy Neko. May you find love and peace on the other side. Know that you were and always will be loved. Rest easy, until we meet again my friend. Neko...Gone too soon, but never forgotten........Kim Stewart, September 9, 2018 Sweet Neko was adopted as a senior and was a loving emotional support dog for his final years. He passed away from cancer.....Martina, June 2019 Gone too soon. Our hearts are breaking as we said goodbye to our sweet Nemo this afternoon. Fly high our handsome boy, may you always feel the wind in your hair. Thank you for the joy your brought to our lives. ........Darlene and Mike McCann, January 13, 2020 Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
