Sarah
Cindy/Sarah...... She was a stray in New Mexico last year. When I saw what a sweetheart she was, I named her Cindy, after my very own Cindy Hamilton Chapman. As soon as Jim Schulz saw her he was an instant transport failure, an ERU first! He renamed her after his very dear friend Sarah and she had him wrapped around her little paw ! He hand fed her and loved her like no other. Up until she wiggled into his heart, Jim was a self proclaimed big dog kinda guy. Well, as you can see by the look in their eyes, this was a love story only found in rescue, but one that will never fade. The big dog guy Jim and his little princess Sarah ❤️.......Denise Barker for Jim Schulz, October 17, 2017

Scrappy Doo
Scrappy Doo was a playful and lovable little 18 pound fluff ball that was picked up by Detroit Animal Control. He didn't get adopted very fast in the shelter due to his 12-year old age but he did get rescued by ERU and was fostered by Gale. Scrappy loved to give Eskie kisses, ride in the car and he even got a 2-mile hike every day! Soon he was adopted by a "cops and courts reporter", Tereasa, and would sometimes go on assignments and meet the firefighters and deputies, which made everyone's day! He especially got excited when Tereasa would come home or Gale would visit. He knew belly rubs and romps in the snow were not far behind! Scrappy Doo's new, happy life wasn't to last long. He developed pancreatitis but stayed spry and playful due to medications. However, after four months and an especially painful night, Tereasa rushed him to the vet where a tumor was discovered. Little Scrappy Doo died in his owner's loving arms only 9 months after being adopted. But he will live in Tereasa's heart forever.

Shadow
Here is a story about Shadow. What a character. Shadow went over the Rainbow Bridge on May 6, 2016 comfortable on his favorite blanket while his family, Tom and Mary, held him. Laps of Love assisted with his journey. He was 14 years old. The paralysis that affected his rear legs had moved to his front legs and was starting to affect his neck muscles. As painful as it was for us, it was the right decision for him. Missing him terribly are Tom and Mary, and our other Eskies, Luna and Sheba. We lost our bass voice in the chorus of Eskie barks. Shadow was adopted from ERU in July 2014 after his foster parents fell in love with him. He was a 12 year old 36 lb Eskie. We suspect there was some Samoyed in this big guy somewhere. His previous owner was a biker on the east coast of Florida and we often wondered about the adventures he might have had with her. Did he ride in a sidecar wearing goggles? How many people fell for his big brown eyes when there was a French fry in his vicinity? We’ll never know. He loved to run especially after any cat or squirrel that walked through the yard. He would gallop and bark at them with his big bass voice. He loved to cuddle with his adopted dad and rub his head and face on the carpet while Tom wrestled gently with him. He would roll on his back for a belly rub in the wink of an eye. By far his favorite activity was eating. He would eat morning, noon and night if you let him. He loved to have some kibble as a midnight snack. You’d hear him crunch and crunch in the quiet hours. It didn’t take much to satisfy him either. Just a few spoonfuls were fine with him. As his paralysis progressed, he loved to lie on the floor looking out of the front door watching the birds frolic in the bird bath. Sometimes he would just lie on the patio and soak up some sun. We gave this quirky senior Eskie two years of fun and frolic and companionship. He gave us his undying love. ....Mary Mahoney and Tom McGuigan, May 2016

Shimmer
Shimmer is a sweet diva who really appreciates love and pampering. Maybe it’s because she came from a neglect case in which she received neither the food nor the love she deserves. Nowadays, she really enjoys hanging out on the couch with people, especially while receiving body rubs & head massages. This little girl was never walked in her former life, but now that she knows what a walk is, she would love to take a zillion walks a day! Shimmer likes to run, jump and play, and she loves everyone she meets, even kids & cats. Shimmer loves car rides & would like to go shopping with you. Although she can be around other dogs, she would prefer to have all the attention (and toys) to herself. Because Shimmer comes from a neglect situation, she has suffered from skin issues which have caused her some hair loss; however, it’s this same life of neglect which has made her into a grateful dog who appreciates any attention and love you give her……….Summer Lynn, May 26, 2021

Sierra Snow
Sierra Snow's time in rescue was short lived. After being saved from a scary shelter, undergoing several surgeries and charming everyone along the way, she only knew her forever family for a few short weeks before she decided that her work on earth was done. Sierra Snow was a favorite of many and her tragic loss will be mourned by all. She taught others that no matter what, never give up hope that a furever home will be found. Her foster families and adopting family will never forget her diva personality- she now awaits at the Bridge but she is not alone. Sierra Snow was so special, she even had her own theme song- "The shelter in Pennsylvania was frightful. But the puppy, she's so delightful. And since she's found a new forever home. Let it Snow (wiggle), Let it Snow (wiggle), Let it Snow (wiggle)"
